15-16 year old boys

Posted by: Naanra <Naanra@...>

While we have been talking about 15-16 year old boys--one of my son's better
friends has become a fixture at our house. His parents recently divorced,
mom moved out leaving him and his 17 year old brother to live with dad. Mom
still works in town. But dad won't buy groceries, and gives the kids $20 a
week for lunch--that's it. This poor kid comes to our house because he knows
I'm a stay at home mom and there's usually food here. It knocks the budget a
little, but no way can I turn away a hungry child! It just breaks my heart
to know he's not getting physical or emotional help at home. Dad has bought
him a car, etc., but neither parent is really involved in his daily life.
The son comes over here and talks to my husband for hours, you can tell he's
starved for that kind of conversation. How on earth can people do that to
their children?
