A MEDICAL DOCTOR'S DESCRIPTION OF A CRUCIFIXIONTHE RESUME OF JESUS CHRISTENCOURAGING TEENS AND PRETEENS IN THEIR TIME WITH GODby Barb Campbell of MississippiWhen my daughter was 11, I ran across this book -- Spending Time With God by Mark Gilroy. The subtitle is A Teenager's Guide to Creating an Incredible Devotional Life. Now my daughter was already having a quiet time, but I wanted her to learn to dig deeper and really spend time with the Lord one on one. This book looked good and I thought it would be a spark to get her going. Well, it was. She loved it and learned much from it. She learned why we need to spend time with the Lord every day, she learned about journaling, the various kinds of prayer (Thanksgiving, Petition, Praise, etc.), and she learned a lot about how to get into the Word. I found this book to be so good, that I purchased it for my son (age 12) this year. All of these are things we, as parents, should and can teach our children. So why buy a book? Well, for my children it was a matter of giving them a bit of independence to define how they spend their quiet time. This book doesn't set up a rigid structure.. it gives ideas and guidelines and encourages the young reader to find what works best for them. It is written to them and early on gets them thinking about their relationship with God and how it can grow.As I mentioned, we gave this book to my son this year. I did not require him to read it.. haven't even asked him about it. But a week or so ago, he said, "I read the coolest scripture" -- he grabbed his Bible and read a passage from Ephesians. I asked him why he read it and he said, "I was using that little book you gave me .. that is a cool book!" And then he said the words that are music to this mom's ears, "I really like those verses! Could I memorize them?"Spending Time With God is available at several online bookstores including www.christianbooks.com. It is a small book - 80 pages -- and inexpensive (around $8).TOP TEN TIPS FOR REALLY CONNECTING WITH YOUR TEENBy Lynn Gregory ~ Parents & Teens Newsletter ~ Helping Parents Connect With Their Teens!
www.ParentsandTeens.com ~ Used by permissionSo many people ask me in my capacity of a Lifecoach for Parents and Teens, just how they can really connect with their Teen? It seems to be at the bottom of many of their issues and if only we could find some answers it could make such a huge difference. So here goes, and in no particular order ... here are my Top Ten Tips for really connecting with your Teen.
1) Make sure you are available. When they need to talk to you put aside what you are doing and give them your full attention.
2) Get to know their friends and make yours an open house.
3) Be a role model to your Teen, if you want them to grow into a responsible adult, be one yourself!
4) Catch them doing something good and tell them! Don't always focus on the negative.
5) When was the last time you went out with your Teen, just the two of you? Pizza, shopping? Anything just so long as you both have fun!
6) Remember what it was like to be a teenager, try to put yourself in their shoes, remembering always that they are teenagers in a very different world now to the one you were in...the issues our teenagers have to deal with are different.
7) Respect your teenagers privacy...knock before going in to their room.
8) To earn the respect of your teenager you have to also show them respect, they will learn it from you!
9) Pray regularly for your Teen and share the concerns you have for them with God, and don't forget the joys too!
10) Above all, really remember to 'enjoy' your Teen. The time you have left with them is fast racing by and slipping between your fingers. Cherish every day you have with your Teen and make the best you possibly can of the time you have with them. They'll be gone before you know it!
Are you struggling to achieve peace and harmony with your teenager at home? Do you find that your teenager is making bad choices and you want to set them on the right track? Are you worried about your teenager and want to get to the bottom of whatever is eating at them? Are you just at the end of your tether? As a Life Coach for Parents and Teens I work with Parents, Teens and pre-Teens to achieve all of the above and more. Why not e-mail me to arrange a complimentary session to see what I can do to help YOU? You have nothing to lose but everything to gain! [email protected]Regarding the complimentary session, there is no obligation whatsoever to commit to any further paid sessions with me. The complimentary session is exactly that and the person is free to walk away with no questions asked. It is extremely important anyway that the client and I 'click' before we can even decide whether we feel we can work together. The other important thing to mention is that I meet the cost of all international phone calls ( I am based in the UK), the only 'charge' is for my time and that only comes into play when people do decide to work with me.

http://www.Christian-Homemaking.comPreventing Clothes Dryer Burn Out ~ A repairman informed a homemaker that dryer sheets cause a film over filter mesh and that's what burns out the heating unit. You can't see the film, but it is there. He said the best way to keep your dryer working for a very long time (and to keep your electric bill lower) is to wash it with hot soapy water and an old brush at least every six months. He said that makes dryer last at least twice as long! Test your screen by running water through it. If water doesn't come straight through, as though the screen were not there, take a minute and wash it and see if it makes a difference. A friend sent me this information, and washing the screen with hot soapy water did make a difference!New Way of Cleaning the Inside of Your Car ~ This is a tip I share with everyone, and it works so well. Open up all four doors of the car and blow it out with a leaf blower. It works wonderfully. Everyone in my family uses this method, and it doesn't cost anything! ~ Reader's Tip from the Dollar Stretcher ~ www.stretcher.com ~ tip from KarenList of Supplies the Troops Can Use ~ Room refresher (stick ups), baby wipes, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes (cleaning wipes), Swiffer dusters, trail mix, granola bars, Gatorade mix, small pocket size snacks, soup, chocolate chip cookies. There is no petition before the FCC seeking the banning of all mentions of God or religion from the airwaves. This call-to-arms over Petition #2493 (which even when it existed was about something quite different) dates back to 1975 - 30 years ago. Check out www.snopes.com for many more hoaxes.Worry is like sitting in a rocking chair. It's a way to pass the time, but it doesn't get you anywhere!A PADDED FIREPLACE SEATAlthough a fireplace is nice and cozy, the hearth can be quite dangerous with little ones in the home, especially if they accidently fall and hit their head on the brick edge! There is a good home decorating remedy for this and one that also provides extra seating. Purchase very dense foam at a fabric or craft store, cut it to fit the hearth, and cover with upholstery fabric. When we bought our last sofa, I purchased extra fabric to match for this purpose. All I did was cover the thick dense foam tightly as though I were wrapping a gift, and secured the fabric with long straight pins underneath. The padded bench covers only the center five-foot section of the hearth, and two large baskets, filled with books, set on either side of the seat. When the fireplace is used, of course, the padded seat and baskets need to be removed from the hearth. Our grandson loves to climb up onto the seat and look at books!HELP FOR DRY SKIN AND PROBLEM SKINFor showering Cetaphil cleanser is less drying for skin than soaps. Melaleuca also has several excellent skin care products. If your skin is very dry, try showering every other day and sponge bathe other days. After showering, dry off and use a good moisture lotion on your skin while still in the shower, where the humidity is still high from using the shower. By applying the lotion in the shower, you are able to lock in more moisture, because as soon as you step out of the shower, skin moisture is rapidly lost through evaporation. Avon Moisture Therapy - Intensive Body Lotion for Extremely Dry Skin (13.5 Fl. Oz.) is also good to use still in the shower. Renew from Melaleuca is excellent not only for dry skin but for eczema and psoriasis. Melaleuca is not sold in stores, but you can learn more about it by e-mailing [email protected].VARIOUS METHODS OF MAKING EGG SALADWhen making a large amount of egg salad, a food processor or blender work best. If preparing a smaller amount, you may want to use a pastry blender, so you don't have as much clean-up. However, quite a few years ago I learned a good lesson from precious elderly friends who are now both with the Lord. As I was visiting George and Grace Hitch one day, they asked me to stay for lunch, assuring me that it was no trouble at all. Grace already had some peeled, hard cooked eggs in her refrigerator. She simply put several eggs on a plate, mashed them well with a fork and added mayonnaise and a little salt and pepper. We enjoyed the egg salad with crackers and I still remember how delicious that tasted!A "HEART TO HEART" GRANDMOTHER'S TIME WITH HER GRANDDAUGHTERI had lunch with my daughter and five year old granddaughter, Olivia, yesterday. Olivia said, "Do you know I'm special to your heart?" "How do you know that, I asked?" She answered, "Because of the way you act to me!" Now there's a good lesson in "our actions speak louder than our words!"
Olivia also told me she was very creative. I asked what "creative" meant. She said it was someone who was very good at artist work and someone who had good ideas. She's got it!When it was almost time for Olivia's mom to return, on her own without any suggestion from me, Olivia picked up all her toys and had me rewind the 2 Precious Moments' videos she had watched and she returned them to the shelf in her room (here). I was speechless. No kid does that. I said, "Whatcha doin', Olivia?" She told me she had watched the clock and she knew it was almost time for her mom to come back; so she knew it was time to, "Clean up, clean up!"HOW TO ATTRACT THE BLUEBIRD OF HAPPINESS
By Lois Breneman, © 2001, Heart to Heart Newsletter, [email protected]
During the 1970's the bluebird population was almost destroyed with a drop down to ten percent, possibly due to the use of DDT as well as the invasion of house sparrows destroying baby bluebirds by pecking them to death. There has been an effective crusade among many to bring back the bluebirds and it has worked. In recent years thousands of bluebird boxes have been set in place along highways, in meadows and in countless yards.
The iridescent blue of these strikingly beautiful birds makes anyone who has them nearby feel honored by their presence. The boxes are easy to make or you may find one to purchase in a hardware, garden or department store. It is helpful to know that these birds prefer unpainted or unstained boxes, unless they have already been weathered. They also prefer the boxes at a height of a fence post in a meadow or open area, spaced at a distance.
It is facinating to watch bluebirds waiting for their next meal. We have often seen them sitting on our tree branches, not moving a muscle and staring intently down at the ground. Then all of a sudden they would swope down on their prey, helping to cut down on the bug population. In a few seconds they were back up on the branch waiting for the next course of their meal.
Try making a homemade mixture of lard, cornmeal and raisins to lure them to your area or buy mealworms for them, however they have honored us with their presence by using boxes alone. Seeing the newborn baby bluebirds pop out of the boxes was especially exciting for our family! Survival is good if cats are not roaming your neighborhood. One year we noticed that cats had gotten all five babies from one box, which was really sad. LORGANIZING TIPS FOR YOUR WORKSHOP OR GARAGE
Tips provided by http://www.ThriftyFun.comOrganize Tools With Fishing Tackle BoxesFishing tackle boxes work great for keeping small power tools and their accessories and bits organized. Whenever I see fishing tackle box at a garage sale or rummage sale I grab it. You can uses stencils and spray paint to label the outside of the box.Storing SandpaperStore your sandpaper in a three ring binder. Just uses some pocket folders to keep the sandpaper organized by different grits in the binder. Label the binding of the three ring binder
"Sandpaper" so that it's easy to see when sitting on shelf.Storing Items In Baby Food JarsBaby food jars are great for storing small nails, screws and other items so that they are easy to see. You can put the jars in a old spice race to keep them together. You can also attach the metal lids to the underside of a shelf, the jars can then hang from the shelf and be seen easily.Avoiding Workbench ClutterKeep a garbage can right by your workbench to keep debris from cluttering up your work area. If you have more than one work area put a trash can next to each. Try to find convenient place to store items like safety goggles so that they are near where you used them the most, hanging them on the gall by your table saw for example. Keep a small hand broom near your work bench to sweep debris into a garbage can.Twist Ties and Rubber BandsTwist ties work well for wrapping up power tool cords and keeping wires together. Rubber bands also have a variety of uses and are good to keep handy. Take an old bike inner tube and cut it into rings to make some heavy duty rubber bands.Hanging ToolsIf you enough wall space, hang shovels and other garden tools upside down on your walls. For smaller tools you can get a peg board that you can mount on your wall and fit with a variety of
pegs and hooks and store tools that you need to have handy.Storing Paint CansBefore storing paint, put some paint on the top and side of the can so you can easily see what color it is. If the can is almost empty, transfer it to a smaller container since paint cans take
up a lot of shelf space. If you may want to try to recreate the color in the future, write the color information on a piece of paper and tape it to the side of the paint can.A BIBLICAL COUNTDOWN TO EASTERVisual aids help children remember much better and this is a wonderful way to show and tell the true Easter story. The symbols and scripture verses for each day are all planned out for you. If you don't have time to begin this activity 11 days before Easter, which is Day 1, it would still be very meaningful to do this in two or three evenings with your family.Day 12 - Place a cracker or small piece of cracker inside the first egg with a slip of paper explaining how this symbolizes the bread and wine of the Last Supper. Mark 14:22. (Putting in the appropriate Bible verse/verses for the contents of each egg would really be neat and such a reinforcing learning tool", too!)Day 11 - Place 3 dimes to symbolize the "30 pieces of silver" that Judas received to betray Jesus.
Day 10 - Place a toy soldier or picture of a soldier to symbolize the soldier who arrested Jesus.Day 9 - Place a "feather" to symbolize the cock rooster that crowed 3 times.
Day 8 - Place a die or a couple of dice to symbolize the "lots that were cast" for Jesus' clothing.
Day 7 - Place a "thorn" in to symbolize the "crown of thorns" that Jesus wore. (taken off a rose bush is fine).
Day 6 - Place a "sponge" in to symbolize the sponge that was dipped in vinegar when Jesus said, "I thirst".
Day 5 - Place a "piece of cloth" in to symbolize the cloth that Joseph wrapped the body of Jesus in.
Day 4 - Place a "piece of black paper or black cloth" into the egg to symbolize the "shadow of darkness" that covered the Earth.
Day 3 - Place a "cross" inside to symbolize the cross on which Jesus was crucified.
Day 2 - Place a "rock" inside the egg to symbolize the stone that was rolled away.
Day 1 - EASTER MORNING! This egg will be "empty" to symbolize the tomb that was empty, that Jesus was "risen" !!
Be sure to write the symbolization description and appropriate Bible verses on slips of paper to go into each of the eggs.
Day 1 - small cracker pieces (represent the Last Supper) Mark14:22
Day 2 - feather (represents the Rooster ) Matt. 26:33
Day 3 - Three silver dimes (30 pieces of silver) Matt. 26:14-15
Day 4 - Thorns (crown of thorns) Mark 15:17 (I used the thorn of a rose stem)
Day 5 - Nail (nails on the cross) Matt. 27:31
Day 6 - a small metal or paper cross (the cross) John 19:17-18
Day 7 - Dice (casting lots) John 19:23-24
Day 8 - Toothpick (spear) John 19:34
Day 9 - White cloth (linen burial cloth) Matt. 27:57-60
Day 10 - Cinnamon Sticks (burial spices) Mark 16:1
Day 11 - Stone (over the mouth of the tomb) Matt. 27:62-65
Day 12 - Empty Egg (the empty tomb) Mark 16:5-6CREATIVE EASTER BASKET IDEAS ~~ ALTERNATIVES TO CANDY
Great ideas from a wonderful grandma - Margie DeMonbrun in Missouri - 2001
I need to go out poking around and find some things for my grandkids' Easter baskets. Their mother does not like candy, but prefers only one or two candy items. Last year they all three got new hats; Chris, a sports hat with sunglasses attached; Kelsey, a white Sunday straw hat with ribbons and bow; and Olivia, a darling white baby bonnet. The girls also got gloves and pretty anklets with lace; Chris got some socks he'd been wanting and a zippered coin holder.
Rather than loading up Easter baskets with sugary snacks, you may want to put an emphasis on a chocolate candy cross or a peanut butter egg, new Christian CD's for the older ones, a Veggie Tale for the younger ones or Steve Green Scripture Songs on tape or CD's. Other ideas without sugar are a miniature Easter tea set, a good book, art supplies (there are so many neat things anymore from stickers to sprinkles, colored pens and pencils, rubber stamps, ink, erasers that glow in the dark, gel pens, crafts), Legos, colored light bulbs for lamps in their rooms (green, purple or dark rose...get them at Wal-Mart), sippy straws ( with a soccer ball that bounces around when you sip or a baseball (also Wal-Mart finds), hair bows and accessories.
I personally think the kids LOVE this kind of basket. Putting in a couple of colored plastic Easter eggs - one or two with some quarters and one with a dollar or two -- those ALWAYS bring gasps of delight!!! Usually, by the time I get done with it, I've spent quite a bit on this Easter basket thing; but Jerry (husband) and I prefer to put some money into worthwhile, character building items than into all candy. They are only children once -- toyland becomes a thing of the past all too fast. We always, however, make sure the children understand what the real meaning of Easter is ... just as we do at Christmas time. The children help Papa (Grandpa) read little poems, verses, etc. on the holiday - it helps center our attention on the reason of the season and gives the children something constructive and educational to do....plus they learn more about Jesus. And we are instructed to teach the children (Deut. 6) when and wherever we are in life....step by step, precept upon precept.THE BEST MATHEMATICAL EQUATION EVER!
1 cross

= 4 givenA MEDICAL DOCTOR'S DESCRIPTION OF A CRUCIFIXION
author unknownThe cross is placed on the ground and the exhausted man is quickly thrown backwards with his shoulders against the wood. The legionnaire feels for the depression at the front of the wrist.
He drives a heavy, square wrought-iron nail through the wrist deep into the wood. Quickly he moves to the other side and repeats the action, being careful not to pull the arms too tightly, but to allow some flex and movement. The cross is then lifted into place. The left foot is pressed backward against the right foot, and with both feet extended, toes down, a nail is driven through the arch of each, leaving the knees flexed. The victim is now crucified.
As he slowly sags down with more weight on the nails in the wrists, excruciating, fiery pain shoots along the fingers and up the arms to explode in the brain - the nails in the wrists are putting pressure on the median nerves. As he pushes himself upward to avoid this stretching torment, he places the full weight on the nail through his feet. Again he feels the searing agony of the nail tearing through the nerves between the bones of his feet. As the arms fatigue, cramps sweep through his muscles, knotting them into deep relentless, throbbing pain. With these cramps comes the inability to push himself upward to breathe. Air can be drawn into the lungs but not exhaled. He fights to raise himself in order to get even one small breath. Finally, carbon dioxide builds up in the lungs and in the blood stream, and the cramps partially subside.
Spasmodically, he is able to push himself upward to exhale and bring in life-giving oxygen. Hours of limitless pain, cycles of twisting, joint-renting cramps, intermittent partial asphyxiation, searing pain as tissue is torn from his lacerated back as he moves up and down against rough timber. Then another agony begins: a deep, crushing pain deep in the chest as the pericardium slowly fills with serum and begins to compress the heart. It is now almost over -- the loss of tissue fluids has reached a critical level-- the compressed heart is struggling to pump heavy, thick, sluggish blood into the tissues-- the tortured lungs are making frantic effort to gasp in small gulps of air.
He can feel the chill of death creeping through his tissues. Finally, he can allow his body to die.
All this the Bible records with the simple words, "and they crucified Him" (Mark 15:24). What wondrous love is this? Many people don't know the pain and suffering our Lord, Jesus Christ went through for us. Because of the brutality, crucifixion was given a sentence to only its worst offenders of the law.
Thieves, murderers, and rapists would be the types of creeps who got crucified. Yet, here Jesus is being crucified between two hardened criminals ... What did Jesus do? Did he murder anyone? Did he steal anything? The answer, as we all know, is NO!! Jesus did nothing to deserve this type of death, yet he went willing to die, in between two thieves, so that we might be saved. And there, between the sinners, our Savior was slain for our sins.

Seeing the newborn baby bluebirds pop out of the boxes was especially exciting for our family! Survival is good if cats are not roaming your neighborhood. One year we noticed that cats had gotten all five babies from one box, which was really sad. L

6) when and wherever we are in life....step by step, precept upon precept.

A MEDICAL DOCTOR'S DESCRIPTION OF A CRUCIFIXION
author unknown
Romans 10:9 "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
