31 Years (and counting...)

These are my “Pastor’s Notes” from this Sunday’s bulletin as I celebrate 31 years as Pastor of the Bible Baptist Church in Port Orchard, WA…
31 years ago God called me to be the pastor of Bible Baptist Church (the oldest independent Baptist church in Kitsap County). What wonderful years of ministry they have been! The best years of my life!
Back in those days we met in a building on Dekalb Street. Our attendance was about 30-40 people. But over the past 31 years God has blessed us with a new facility (valued over 2 million dollars) that is completely debt free! The Lord continues to add to our church—Today our average attendance has grown to about 130. BBC has increased the number of missionaries we support from about 20 missionaries in 1986 to almost 50 missionaries around the world today. Praise the Lord!
I pray God will give me grace to continue as your pastor during the next “transitional” phase of my ministry here at BBC. Over the coming year, I will be gradually transferring the leadership of BBC to Pastor DeSpain. Sometime in 2018 [date TBA] Brother DeSpain will become your new Pastor. Then Barb and I will set out on a new adventure of faith and ministry. Only the Lord knows what that will be.
Please pray the Lord will give me grace and wisdom during the coming year to continue to lead and prepare BBC for the future. Also, pray God will make it clear to Barb and I how (and where) He wants to use us until He calls us home.
In the meantime, lets work together to make BBC all that God wants it to be for His glory. Help me to make whatever time I have left as your Pastor to be the best year yet! OK?
