A few notes about the Hope Chest

Posted by: homenews <homenews@...>

Dear Hope Chest friends,

I just sent out the newest edition of the Hope Chest Home School News, on the theme of Teaching & Training Scripture.  (I hope the spacing came out OK; I've been having trouble with this.)  This issue will be the last regular "big" Hope Chest for quite a while.  For this school year, I intend to send out very short tidbit messages on Sunday afternoons as I am able.  This will allow me to more effectively focus my time into teaching my own nine children this year, especially as we are heavily involved in elder care, too.  Writing is a very good outlet for me, as well as an opportunity for ministry, so I'm not giving up totally!  The tidbits will include teaching tips, random observations about education and child training, book excerpts (mine and others), web sites, and whatever else pops into my brain.  If you all would like to send in your stuff, I'd be glad to forward it along as appropriate!

I will also be discontinuing my web site as of mid-September, since Homestead has significantly raised the prices for web hosting.  I am checking to see if they still have a "free" option for very small sites, in which case I may just cut way back on my pages.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, July 29) is the last day to let me know that you want the 2003 Learner's Journal  (www.hopechest.homestead.com/learnersjournal.html).  I am taking them to be printed on Wednesday, and need to know how many and what colors to order.  Please remember that all profits from this project will go to buy Chichewa language Bibles to be distributed by Pastor Headson Makazinga in Malawi.   When I sent the Learner's Journal order form, I forgot to say that if you want to order Common Sense Excellence ($20) or The Real Life Home School Mom ($14), you are welcome to do that at the same time.

If any of you have sent (or plan to send) money or supplies to the two African pastors listed in the Word Geography & Missions issue, please let me know!  I'd like to keep track of this!  I should mention that according to the U.S. Postal Service web site (http://www.usps.gov), you can't send used clothing to Malawi.

Finally, Leisa Lee has requested that North Carolina readers please check the http://nche.com web page for information on protecting your home school rights.

Blessings,2
