My daughter in-law, Carletta Oliver Peters, needs a kidney! She is on the donor list and just got word tonight of a possibility. If she receives a kidney our son, and Carletta's brother in-law, Mark will donate one. Here is exciting news from her, and I ask that you pray! Thanks! Jack Peters
Ok, I was going to wait, but I have to share the latest news. Early this afternoon, I received a call from the transplant office saying that had a possible kidney for me, would I like them to proceed with testing to see if I was a match? YES!! Please do! They said it would take several hours and they would call back. Two things they were checking, 1) compatibility and 2) if the kidneys were large enough for two people to receive them. Usually, if the kidneys are healthy two people can receive a kidney. I am the second one, so if the kidney is too small the other person will receive both, if I understand it correctly. As it turns out I am incredibly hard to match so I was excited to get the call but figured I would not match.
Well they called back and miracle of miracles, I match! The next step is to see if the kidneys are large enough, which they cannot determine until they take the kidneys out of the donor. This won't be done until sometime tomorrow morning.
I am totally excited!!! They say that you don't get a kidney with the first call. Usually 4-8 calls before one comes through. However, I serve a powerful God who can defy all the odds, so I remain hopeful. And even if I don't get the kidney, I am still excited! God has shown me that He has not forgotten me, and even if it takes 8 calls, 1 has already happened, progress is being made. I've also heard that once you get a call they start coming more frequently, so no matter what happens, I will be praising God. This is all so awesome!!
