ADVENTURES
by J. Randal Matheny

The beach has too much sand for me,
The mountains, too much snow;
The north* is much too hot for me,
By south the cold winds blow.

I'll safely sit at home and read,
Within my comfort zone;
I'll trek where others' adventures lead,
Their thrills and thralls my loan.

For me the treacherous trails are steep,
The racing lanes too fast;
Excitements from my pages leap,
In books my travels last.
