Amp Troubleshooting (was HNY)

I recently acquired a damaged Gallien-Kreuger 700-RB bass amp (top cover was
missing and it looked like it fell out of a moving vehicle). I straightened
the case out and none of the electronic components show visible damage. The
amp produces sound at appreciable levels, but is always distorted, like you
would get by overdriving the input of a guitar amp. Any electronics gurus
have advice on what to look for and where to look for it in terms of
defective components?
