At the Border/OT

Hi Ladies,
I have found myself thinking about my experience crossing the border yesterday,
and I thought I would share with you what a good job your border guards are
doing. Since the Sept. 11 terriorist attack, border crossings up here have
changed, and rightly so. Canada/US have what is called a soft border, and those
of us who live here, are use to commuting back and forth with ease. Initially
once borders where open again, vehicles where very, very thoroughly inspected.
A week later, they were still checking those crossing more thoroughly, but they
weren't stripping you car anymore. I have passed through the border about 6
times, and each time I have had to turn off my car and open my trunk for
inspection. Something different happen yesterday, that prompted me to share
this. My son tells me there the FBI or someone like that came privy to
information that there could be a threat carried out this weekend.
Anyways....they were a bit more serious on Friday. Almost instantainly as I
stopped my car and handed the guard the keys to check my trunk another one open
my back door and began searching through the childrens coats that were left on
the back seat. It surprised me, they had never done that before. It only took
about 5 mins. I am a local and cross over now and then, but even so, no one is
above suspicion. I hope knowing this, helps you to know that they border guards
are still being careful.
