Dear friends and family,On Sunday, our congregation at Metro Life Church had the immense privilege of hearing a message by Gary Thomas, my favorite contemporary author. The theme of his sermon was from his newest book, The Beautiful Fight, which I reviewed in the November issue of my e-magazine (www.VirginiaKnowles.com/TheBeautifulFight). I also based my poem "Corpus Christi" on it (www.VirginiaKnowles.com/CorpusChristi). I like Gary's emphasis in this message on living life purposefully, and not just avoiding what we shouldn't do.You can download the audio file by visiting www.MetroLife.org. At the right side of the screen, you will see a section for "Recent Messages." You will find The Beautiful Fight message listed here. I usually have trouble if I left-click on Download. Instead, I right-click on it and use "Save Target As." You can also download the sermon notes. I am listening to the audio file as I type this.Thad and I also attended his Sacred Marriage conference on Saturday, along with our oldest daughter and her fiance, who enjoyed it just as much as we did. I highly recommend this conference to anyone who can attend one, as well as his book by the same name. Our thanks to Orlando Grace Church for bringing Gary to Orlando for this conference.I also finally bought the last one of his ten books that I hadn't already read, Authentic Faith. This book focuses on how difficult seasons of life can deepen and enrich our spiritual lives -- if we let them. I like it that Gary doesn't succumb to pop-theology and easy answers, but draws on the rich heritage of the Christian classics throughout the ages. I just went on his web site (www.GaryThomas.com) to download the study guide for this book.I just thought I would pass along these valuable resources! I would love to hear your comments on whether this kind of information is helpful to you.If you haven't already seen the on-line photo-filled version of my newest poem, "Over Utah in January," you can find it at www.VirginiaKnowles.com/OverUtahInJanuary. This page also has my thoughts on instilling a sense of wonder and warm family memories that can be passed down throughout generations.Blessings,Virginia Knowles-- To subscribe, send ANY message to: [email protected] To unsubscribe, send ANY message to: [email protected] Visit my web site at www.VirginiaKnowles.com
