Before and After

Before a man first opened his eyes,
And long before the Child was born,
Before the horizon saw the sun rise,
Before the grain grew in the corn,
God Was, and Is, and ever will Be.
Before a sin formed in the mind,
And long before the Cross was raised,
Before man's view of God grew blind,
And nations ranted, and Christians praised,
God Was, and Is, and ever will Be.
Long after suns have ceased to burn,
And Christ's return's a memory,
And human questions no longer churn,
And evil dies in hell's debris,
God yet will dwell in eternity.
