BEFORE THERE WAS GUILT
by J. Randal Matheny

Before there was guilt, God's grace abounded,
And heaven, before there was a hell;
The Savior, before our sin confounded,
And life, before man lost and fell.

The perfect home preceded hope,
Before the Fall were fairest heights;
The Rock predates the slippery slope,
Before the dark flashed heaven's lights.

Before there was evil, Eden shone
Its splendor where God and human met;
There was love, before man walked alone,
And love there'll be in heaven yet.
