Dear "Heart to Heart" Ladies,
Just after today's newsletter was sent, with my recommendation of Bolthouse Carrot Juice, my husband heard that the Food and Drug Administration warned consumers not to drink Bolthouse Farms Carrot Juice in certain packaging after linking a fourth case of botulism to the product. The FDA said one link between the carrot juice from Bakersfield, California, and the illness appears to be that the carrot juice consumed was not properly refrigerated once it was brought home.
This recall was identified by the FDA as Bolthouse Farms Carrot Juice, 450 ml and 1-liter plastic bottles, with "best if used by" dates of Nov. 11, 2006, or earlier.
The latest botulism case involved a woman in Florida who was suffering from paralysis, a symptom of botulism. The FDA advised people to seek to seek medical help if experiencing paralysis, droopy eyelids, double vision, altered voice and trouble speaking or swallowing, followed by difficulty in breathing.
For more information go to http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2006/NEW01475.html
I spoke to one person this evening who had just purchased several bottles on sale, and she and her husband had already drank two bottles with no adverse effects.
If you have purchased this product, simply return it to the store where it was purchased, or exchange it for another one of their delicious and healthy juices.
Of course, you may still safely juice your own carrots as well as use pureed carrots in the sneaky suggestions given in today's newsletter, in order to entice your children to eat more vegetables.

Be safe and healthy!
God bless you all and have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow!
