Book Recommendations for a Prison

Posted by: tckeller <tckeller@...>

Hi everyone!  I hope you are enjoying some good summer reading.  I am just starting book 2 in Stephen Bly's Homestead series.  By the way, I e-mailed him at his website and he personally replied!  That is so neat when published authors take the time to respond to their readers.

So here's my question: we have a new state prison about 20 miles from us and want to contribute good, Biblically-sound reading material to their library.  Thinking primarily of Christian fiction, what books or authors would you recommend?  Things that might get a man behind bars to thinking about repentance, redemption, and eternal life?  Or books that would encourage someone who once knew the Lord or about Him to re-focus his life?  Or books that would just show someone that there is a better way through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?  I have already contacted the librarian there and she is delighted that we are interested in providing good reading material.  My husband and I have been involved in corresponding with prisoners for a number of years, but now that there is a prison in our own "back yard", we want to get more deeply involved.  I truly believe that the right book can influence a positive, life-transforming change and that is what I pray will result from the books we are able to place in the library there.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.  I am making a list and will obtain these books as funds and circumstances allow.  Thanks!

Take care and may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you!
Love in Christ,
