Hello Ladies! Catching up on email!Sue -- I think -- asked a while back about books we had read that influenced
us. Well, of course, the Bible would be my #1 - truthfully! My life changed
so drastically when I began a more disciplined, daily regime of Bible Study
and reading -- It is awesome! As for other books.... wow! I am not sure I could begin to list them... I
will try a few... Let me quickly add that I am not sure how you define
"influenced" -- for me, these are books God has used to bring about a change
in me or to teach me something.I love Stepping Heavenward by Mrs. E. Prentiss -- This is a work of fiction,
but reads like a wonderful diary from the 1800s -- it is not only the
physical and timely growth of a young woman, but her spiritual growth -- it
is just too good!I absolutely love Elisabeth Elliott's The Shaping of a Christian Family --
this is the story of her parents upbringings and her own -- very good! Very
encouraging! The Five Love Languages (cannot remember who wrote it!) was another book that
"changed" my life. That may seem a rather odd choice, but it really taught
me a lot about myself and my husband and really brought about a change in me!I have read 2 of Stormy O'Martian's books -- Praying Wife and Praying Parent
and both taught me a great deal!A Place of Quiet Rest by Nancy DeMoss, 15 Minutes alone with God by Emilie
Barnes, Freedom from Fear by Neil Anderson, ......these taught me a great
deal!I just finished reading a wonderful book with my children called Bruchko --
it is by Bruce Olson -- he is a missionary in Columbia with the Motilone
(Bari) Indians -- this is an awesome book! It makes me feel very small in my
faith! But it also is such a powerful picture of God at work in the most
amazing ways! I highly recommend it! I am very interested in reading more
books on Christian Leaders/Missionaries -- so recommend any you have read!Devotionals also "inspire" me -- my favorites to date are Whispers of His
Power by Amy Carmichael, Chamber's My Utmost for His Highest, and anything by
Elisabeth Elliott!I am sure there are other books -- they will probably pop into my feeble
brain later! -- but these are a few!Barb C.
