Luke 13:31-35 "At that very hour some Pharisees came and said to him, "Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you." 32 And he said to them, "Go and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I finish my course. 33 Nevertheless, I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the day following, for it cannot be that a prophet should perish away from Jerusalem.' 34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not! 35 Behold, your house is forsaken. And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!'" ESV
It seems as most everyone today is afraid to say what they really think, worrying about how somebody might take their words out of context, or be offended or some way "triggered" and forced into a safe space.
Truth, unfortunately, had already come under attack, now everything that is said is somehow wrong.
Don't you dare tell me I am wrong!
Don't you dare make me feel bad with your words.
Even if it is truth and good for me, you are being a big bully
I am not saying we should be out there purposefully trying to hurt folks with our words, but many, MANY today NEED to hear truth.
I am also not saying you should badger those who refuse to hear.
Many will never even listen
Even if they know what you are saying is right
Many only listen to you so they can respond with their stuff
They do not listen to hear or learn or gain wisdom
Matthew 7:6 "Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you." ESV
Pick you battles; but don't waste your energy on wasted energy.
But, in today's world many, MANY more need to be corrected.
· We are losing a generation of people, maybe two, because they were raised:
o getting trophies for everything
§ Win or lose
o Getting better grades than they earned (OBE)
o Told they would never fail
· As a result
o they have no coping skills for failure
o They have no coping skills for failures
o No real communication skills
o No self control
o Reject any authority of a civilized society
We should stop coddling adult BABIES and speak the TRUTH in LOVE to them….with out fear of their response.
The bigger problem is their indwelled sense of PRIDE in self without any HUMILITY.
The biggest problem is they do not see or understand their need for God and His Savior Jesus Christ.
· Hear me…I know this is a generalization and that there are some millennials and busters that were raised better and make better choices.
o BUT this is not what we see blocking our highways, protesting on our campuses and city streets or burning their own neighborhoods.
o What we are seeing is temper tantrums more reminiscent of TODDLERS than adults….even from some adult professors and leaders.
There needs to be loud voices of correction and conviction…or someone with paddles or belts bringing truth and accountability.
It not love to let bad behavior go uncorrected.
It is not love to allow an unruly and rebellious crowd (MOB) destroy property and lives.
Jesus was no respecter of men. He spoke boldly to all.
The prophetic words of Christ, and His Word, will offend people, they are a STUMBLING BLOCK to many
1 Corinthians 1:22-25 "For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men." ESV
Speak the anyway.
This week we hear about the brave words of Jesus Christ as He rebukes the Temple Elite who were planning to kill Him.
- A Clear Warning
- A Brave Response
- I will finish what must be finished
- I WILL DO what I MUST DO
- A Brave Declaration
- I WILL GO MY WAY
- A prophet must remain here
- A brave rebuke
- YOU REJECTED ME
i. I would protect you
- Your house is forsaken
i. House of the Temple Elite
ii. House of the Pharisees
1. FORSAKEN
2. Desolate
3. A despicable misuse of the Temple of the Lord
- A Brave Prophecy
- You will know who I am
