Can You Pray One Hour?

Mark 14:32-41(text: v. 37b)

"Couldest not thou watch one hour?"

As Jesus approached ever so near to the hour for which
He came into this world, He led His closest disciples into the
Garden of Gethsemane. This was a place where He often would
come for serious times of communion with His Father. Sure He
could commune with Him in the midst of His busy life of
ministering to others, but even Jesus needed hours alone in
uninterrupted, focused, and heart-consuming prayer!

After taking Peter, James and John a little further with Him,
He instructed them to "Watch and pray". But, they failed Him
in this most crucial time of preparation for the greatest sacrifice
ever made in the history of this world. They failed their Lord
and Master! They failed themselves and those who leaned upon
them for leadership and influence in the things of God! They
could not pray even one hour! Can you? Can I? Can we pray
even one hour in this day of prayerlessness? I am here to
challenge you and myself to do so. Let us put first things first.
