A couple of things I never realized about Sir Paul's bass playing until
I watched the Grammy Beatles Tribute.
1. The Hofner is a left handed Hofner. I had always assumed that he was
playing a righty upside down.
2. Sir Paul used a pick exclusively. I could have sworn listening to his
playing that he fingered it. He clutched the pick pretty funny, too. I
feel much less self-conscious about my own pick usage now, which I do
when I have to play a lot of 16th notes. I know he fingerpicks the
acoustic guitar.
3. I just flat don't get how people play bass and sing. I can't. I can
play guitar and sing (though my singing isn't anything to write home
about). But not bass.
4. I wonder how many times the Hofner has been refretted.
