dotted eight note?

it's held longer.  a dot means to hold the note a half longer than you would the same note withough the dot.

i'm not music theoritican (actual word?), but i've picked up bits and pieces.  I can remember definitions, etc. much better than reading music (i can do zero). 

hope this works for you, or at least points you in the right direction to search for more...
