Humbucker springs

Posted by: srolfe <srolfe@...>

Some people have skinny fingers and are more dexterous than others. Practice makes perfect...

On the other hand, I have seen a few examples of pickup springs that were stupid-long.

When I was putting the pick guard on my SG I had a GREAT DEAL of difficulty
with the pickup height adjustment springs. They were much longer than the
height adjustment bolts and it seemed like it would really take two people to
actually put the things on. So, I got the wire cutters out and shortened
them. I've found shorter springs at Stewmac, although at this point I'm not
sure I want to take everything apart again and start over. But, the question
is, is there some trick to putting on these springs that I simply don't know
about?

The black pearl pick guard I got from dazbootman
(eBay) looks great. It looks
like I put a tuxedo on the faded SG. From a distance it looks black but with
a sheen or sparkle. Up close you can see the shades of black/gray. Totally
worth the $30.
