Master Volume breakthrough?

I am PUMPED about a package I'm waiting for at the moment. A friend passed on a link to a small-volume amp and kit builder in Toronto- Trinity Amps.
The owner, with help from folks on the Trinity forum, has come up with a way of controlling the plate voltage on small tube amps. The insertion loss of the mod is only about 1 volt when the control is dimed, and plate voltage can be brought as low as 100 volts when the control is set for maximum attenuation.
The short story is that it lets you set the gain, tone and volume controls in the normal way to dial up the tone and distortion you want. Then you use the voltage control to scale the power output without affecting any other settings. The volume can be controlled over a wide range, without changing the tone and the amount of breakup.
According to user reports, the tone suck from
adjusting the VRM (pronounced "vroom", it stands for voltage regulation module) is much less than normally experienced from master volume controls, power soaks, or so-called "half power" or "pentode-triode" switches. If it works as advertised, this could be the finishing touch for my 5E3 Deluxe clone.
The best part, is that the price is under $30 US...
