PowerPoint vs MediaShout

Hi Harry,I've used "Powerpoint", "Media Shout" and a Program called "Sunday Plus" My
favorite, by far, is "Sunday Plus". It's very intuitive and easy to use. My daughter
started running it for our Sunday services when she was only 8 years old. Now that
she's 11 and plays bass for our Worship team, we've given the responsibility to a 70
year old lady with no computer experience. She picked it up pretty quickly.Depending on your style of worship, there may or may not be much advantage for using
a program designed for worship services. If your worship team runs a pretty scripted
set of songs, in a defined order, Powerpoint will be fine. We have a more spontaneous
team. The Worship Leader will repeat verses, choruses as the Spirit moves.
Sometimes we will flow from a planned song into one that's not on the list. This is much
easier to do in programs like "Sunday Plus". They also store backgrounds and lyrics
seperately, so we can vary the background, even during songs without having to have it
all put together beforehand. It takes about two minutes to get our set list (usually about
eight sons) loaded into Sunday Plus on a typical Sunday.Another feature that we have used on occasion is the ability to put quick
announcements up on the screen and not disturb the service. These appear in a
separate part of the screen ( as a header or a footer ). Our most common use of this
feature is when someone leaves the lights of thier car turned on. Another function is
the ability to notify parents that they are needed in the nursery.Media Shout and Sunday Plus are very close competitors and offer most of the same
features. Sunday Plus is, IMHO, the easiest to use. We got it, looked at the manual
and started using it. Ashley ( my daughter ) didn't even look at the manuel. There were
instances where Ashley noticed a typo in a song, and corrected it while we were singing
a different verse. Judy ( our 70 year old volunteer ) would never use Powerpoint, but
finds Sunday Plus to be quite easy to use. The worship team drops the song list off at
the sound booth when we come in for our warm up and sound check. Judy gets there
about 10 minutes before the service and get the list set up in Sunday Plus.Hope this helps.
