straight to house PA

Now for my 2 cents!
I am a big believer in micing amps for guitars. There is so much tweaking of
your sound that you lose by going direct. Going direct also puts you at the
mercy of the sound man who has to take total control of your sound, rather
than just putting a mic on your amp that is already set up for the stage and
final sound you want. There is also an issue of getting your sound back to
you in the monitors. You say your PA is of moderate quality, so your monitor
system will now become your stage amp. Many churches do not have enough
monitors, channels, and power amps to provide an isolated mix, so you are
right in there with the vocals and whatever else is in the monitor mix. Many
times I have been mixed out of the monitors because the vocalists cannot hear
themselves well.
So much for my 2 cents!
