I probably asked this last time I was considering it.
My Peavey acoustic is a thin body and I am thinking about putting
electric Elixir '9s on it. Other than at home I never play it without
running through the PA or an amp. It has a bridge piezo of mediocre
quality. With a piezo will the sound of the 9's be worse? I am guessing
no since it isn't really picking up the true acoustic tone anyway. Maybe
just a little thinner with lighter strings? - but I use acoustic 10's
now so maybe not much thinner.
My thinking is I may be more likely to use it if it plays more like my
electric. Almost never use it at present.
Thinking about using it this Sunday. I have practice at 9:00. Service at
10:30. A memorial service at 2:00 where we are playing several songs.
And a outdoor bonfire jam starting at 5:00 where we are playing for at
least an hour. Pretty sure it will be too cold for the last one for me
but that is the plan. Also pretty sure my fingers are going to be tired
before this is over.
