The case of the stinky case

I bought a Gibson Chet Atkins a few years ago and had the same problem -
beautiful case, plush looking pink interior, but yeah, it smelled awful.
Must have been the glue or something. It did seem to go away, or maybe I
just quit noticing it. Similar problem with a '62 Martin acoustic that I
bought, only it was the guitar itself that stunk -smelled like a stale ol
ashtray, big time. I would just open up the case and whew, the stench would
hit me in the face. That guitar must have grown up around some pretty
serious cigarette smoking. But after about a year that smell was gone
