The Peavey Lives!

Posted by: srolfe <srolfe@...>

Cool. Glad you got the wiring problem resolved.

Sometimes, it's well worth the money to take it to someone who has the knowledge and equipment to put it right quickly....

So cut to the chase- how does it sound?

Hi All,

I asked back in September how I should fix my Peavey Ecoustic with the dead electronics. There were some options recommended and I decided on the K&K mini. After many attempts to figure out how to mount them in this very thin body
guitar with the tiniest of sound holes, I finally got them installed.

I had to use the existing end pin and soldered a cable inside the guitar with a 1/4 plug that inserted into the new end pin. Reassembled the guitar and plugged it in. Very loud hum. I asked for and got some sage advice. I decided to take the guitar to the local shop. Just picked it today. It is dead quiet. Very nice!

The guitar shop rushed this through for me as I wanted this guitar for Sunday to accompany on a bluegrass version of Beautiful Star of Bethlehem. The bluegrass folks will have to forgive me for using the Peavey. Our upright bass player offered to let me use her acoustic - I did during practice and absolutely hated it. It was a custom made instrument she said cost more than her Martin but I thought it sounded and played like my $30 beginner guitar. Dead lifeless and hard to chord.

When I can leave the guitar for a few days he wants it back to eliminate
the cable that I used.

My point in all this is it pays to develop a relationship with the local guys. It sure would be hard to get this kind of help through the mail.

Peace On Earth
Kevin
