I had d'Addario half-rounds on my Toby Pro-5 for about 7 years now, same set. I felt like they needed to be changed. Even though I was relatively happy with the half-rounds, especially the feel, I thought I would try a set of coated strings. Since I'm a pretty dedicated d'Addario guy I thought I would give the Exp's a try. Now, I've tried the coated strings on my acoustic, Elixers, and I never liked the feel of them, the coating felt "funny". However, these bass Exp's I can hardly feel the coating, they feel pretty much like uncoated strings... except they aren't as noisy when moving fingers (not as much of a problem with the bass as the acoustic). I have to say that I love these. I didn't realize how dead the old strings had gotten. The new Exp's have a LOT more growl and punch. It makes my bass sound the way it is intended to sound. When I finally replace these I'm probably going to replace them with another set of Exp's.I might give the Exp's a try on my acoustic. Does anyone have any experience with them?
