Commissioned For A Mission

And then he told them, "Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:15-16 NLT)
If you've been around the church for much time at all, you've likely heard a number of messages on the Great Commission, and just as many methods for accomplishing it. There is door-to-door canvassing with The Roman Road; street-corner confrontations with the Ten Commandments, and home bible study groups, just to name a few.
Jesus clearly commanded His disciples to spread the truth of the gospel message to every person. As part of the Body of Christ, we have been commissioned for this mission. How can we reach our generation? It will take every member of the Body doing their part.
Not all of us have the calling of an evangelist. Not all of us have the bravado to confront strangers on the street corner. Yet we each have been entrusted with gifts and we have a responsibility to use them for the Kingdom. Acts 1:8 says that the Holy Spirit empowers us to be a witness for Jesus.
I challenge you, as I have been challenged, to ask God for His plan to use the gifts He has placed in you for His Kingdom purposes. Writers, write so that others may know Him. Prayer warriors, intercede for the harvest. Singers, children's workers, puppeteers, drama teams, reach out with your gifts and His message to the world. Whatever you do, do it for the glory of God (I Corinthians 10:31). Remember, it's the message that's sacred; not the method.
Heavenly Father, I worship You. Thank You for the gifts You have placed within me. Lord, I'm not asking You to bless my plans, I'm asking You to download Your plan. Show me how I can lift up Jesus so that all men will be drawn to Him. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
