by J. Randal Matheny"How fast we learn in a day of
sorrow! Scripture shines out in new
effulgence; every verse seems to
contain a sunbeam, every promise
stands out in illuminated
splendour; things hard to be
understood become in a moment
plain!" --Horatius BonarHow fast we learn in a day of sorrow!
The light shines brighter than before,
Our painful hope would see tomorrow
And know the grace God holds in store.Affliction makes the Bible dearer,
Every verse a sweet refrain.
In suffering God himself comes nearer,
Dimmer truths made quickly plain.----
