Digest Question Answered

Folks:(Though this message pertains to the few folks we have on the Digest
version of the new CCMag list, it may provide useful for others who may
wish to subscribe to the digest version, or do so on other lists.)I sent a question in to Glen Stewart, the generous gentleman who owns the
e-mail server we are now using, regarding the reply issue for digest
subscribers. (Please see my footnote.) Here's his answer:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
All: Here is the setup I went through to get the digest sections to
work in Outlook Express as *real email messages*.Follow these steps:
Go to My Computer
Select Menu items View/Folder Options
Select Tab "File Types"
Click New Type
Description: EZM Digests
Association/extension: .ezm
Content Type: message/rfc822
Default extension: .eml
Action: click New
fill in Action: open
fill in Application: "C:PROGRAM FILESOUTLOOK EXPRESSMSIMN.EXE"
/eml:%1
(the above Application must be typed as shown, with quotes where they
are shown, and all on one line ending in a space and then /eml:%1)Close and save all windows.
Once done, when you double click on the attachment name in the
Outlook Express attachment's window, the message *should* open right
in Outlook Express so it can be read and replied to normally.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Footnote:Glen Stewart uses his server for housing ministry-related mailing
lists. He does this at his own expense. What has amazed me ever since I
got to know Glen is that, although he has a "day job", his answers to
questions, as well as his resolution to problems, has always been fast,
honest, direct, and helpful.I used to subscribe to another list on his server where everyone wished all
postings to be anonymous -- a feature not available. Within just a very
short interval, he modified the ezmlm software to facilitate this
need. Those of you who may have been on or managed lists on other servers
know the pain of waiting often for MONTHS for enhancements, and then having
them not come through as promised. And let's not even talk about what
happens when a real trouble happens! I know of one list owner that, due to
a configuration change, was locked out of his own lists for THREE MONTHS
before he could get assistance!A short note to Glen, thanking him for hosting our list, would be nice. He
can be reached at: glen_stewart@welovegod.orgBut keep the note short! He receives a TON of e-mail!
