The New Year will pass quickly. I’ve decided to approach each

day as a wonderful gift from God and live it to the fullest.

Turbulence

The pastor of our church began his sermon with this story:

"I was on a plane last week, from Chicago to California, when we ran into

some very severe turbulence.

As it got worse, the passengers became more and more alarmed, and even

the flight attendants began to look concerned. Finally, one of them noticed

that I had 'Rev.' in front of my name on the passenger list, came over to me,

and said, 'Sir, this is really frightening. Do you suppose you could, I don’t

know...do something religious?'"

"So I took up a collection.”

Rose Bowl Football Game

Two elderly sisters donated $5 to a charity and, to their surprise, won tickets

and a flight to the Rose Bowl football game in Pasadena on New Year's Day.

Since they had never seen a live football game before, Madge thought the

free tickets would provide an excellent opportunity for doing so.

"I think so, too," said Mabel. "Let's go!"

They soon found themselves high in a noisy stadium overlooking a large, grassy

expanse. They watched the kickoff and the seemingly endless back-and-forth

struggles that comprised the first half.

They enjoyed the band music and cheerleader performance that followed. Then

came the second half. When the teams lined up for the second-half kickoff, Madge

nudged her sister.

"I guess we can go home now, Mabel," she said. "This is where we came in."
