I have trouble understanding how a person breaking the
law in a progressive, liberal, Democratically-controlled
area is a 'hero' that people demonstrate about. How is it
a race issue in a city that has a black mayor and 48% of
the police force is black? How is looting and destroying
improving the situation?

Gifts of the Spirit
Trying to help Hailey remember things for her religious
education "final" meeting that we need to set up. So I'm
asking her what she remembers about the Holy Spirit.
She tells me what she knows, and then I add in that the
Holy Spirit has special gifts that He can give you if you
pray. "Like if you are scared and need to be brave, you
can pray for Courage. And if you have a spelling test and
you all of a sudden go blank and forget the words, throw
up a silent prayer for Wisdom. Sometimes it works!"
Hailey (hesitantly): "Uhm...mom??? That's kind of...called,
uhm...cheating...ya know?... So I don't think you should
do that."
- from Janet H. (my niece)
editor note: Haley is 6 years old

The Pearly Gates
Saint Peter is sitting at the Pearly Gates when two guys
from Fergonson arrive wearing dark hoodies, and sagging
pants.
St. Peter looked out through the Gates and said, "Wait here,
I'll be right back."
St. Peter goes over to God's chambers and tells him who is
waiting for entrance.
God says to Peter: "How many times do I have to tell you?
You can't be judgmental here. This is heaven. All are loved.
All are brothers. Go back and let them in!"
St. Peter goes back to the Gates, looks around, and lets out
a heavy sigh. He returns to God's chambers and says, "Well,
they're gone."
"The guys wearing hoodies?" asked God.
"No. The Pearly Gates."
