Please continue to pray for the Garvey family from Columbia, Maryland. This family of 12 was in a severe van wreck yesterday morning, and their newborn baby Jesse did not survive. The accident happened along I-95 in south Georgia, but they were taken to the nearest trauma hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. I haven't been able to contact Stephanie personally yet (her cell phone is down), but I've read updates on the Swap board that two children (Joshua who is 19 and Andrew who is 13) are still in ICU in serious/stable condition, and I believe two more were to be released from the hospital this morning. The other six children are staying with their grandparents in Daytona Beach, which is not too far away. I believe that their pastor flew in yesterday, and other friends were on the way, too.

Last month, I sent you the promotion code to receive 10% off of an order of $35 or more at Christian Book Distributors. I apologize that I omitted one digit of the code. I just found out yesterday when I put in my own order. I managed to dig out a World Magazine and get the right code to do my order, but now I can't find it! How frustrating! However, if you don't mind a little trial an error, I narrowed it down to two possibilities since I remember the missing digit and sort of where it went in the sequence. You can try 219673AY or 216973AY or 216793AY. The way you know it works is that it puts a discount in as a credit in the list of items you are buying. So play around until that shows up. I should note that if you want delivery by Christmas, you need to order NOW and use 2nd Day Air shipping, which is very expensive. Ouch! Fortunately, the discount knocked my total amount back down to what I would have been paying at the regular shipping rate with no promotion.

When I was preparing homework handouts for my middle school English class at co-op, I used several Christmas poems from Dr. Phibes Clockwork Christmas Poems at http://home.bham.rr.com/lgriner/christmas/. If you want your children to keep up with some good literature over your holiday break, I recommend that you saddle up your reindeer and trot on over to that site quick. Do use discretion, though, and choose yourself before showing them to your children. These are literature poems, not little kid jingles, and there are some which may not suit your family. I would recommend "Jesous Ahatonhia" by by Father Jean de Brébeuf (written in the 1600s for the Huron Indians in Canada) and "Star-Silver" by Carl Sandburg.
