Hello All!Well, Figured I'd quit lurking and come into the light and introduce
myself as well. Not that I'm an important person like ya'll, but...My name is Amber Mahoney, I am a college student at Purdue University in
Indiana. I am 25 and married to a wonderful man. 😉 I am studying
Mathematics Education, and my huband is studying Chemical Engineering.Let's see the next bit is supposed to be my favs...
Music: Just about anything. Except Rap, that's not music. I especially
like Petra, and PDQ Bach.Books... Oh, I don't know. Just everything. I read the Lord of the
Rings for a class this past semester (for the first time) and had a good
time doing it although for a while I didn't think I was going to make it
through the whole thing.About DragonRaid:
As some of you may remember, I am a gamer (or was when I had time).
When I was younger, I had a boyfriend who played AD&D. Well, my family
is Free Will Baptist (much like Southern Baptist) and my mother is still
convinced that AD&D is *pure* evil. Consequently, I never got to play.
I heard tell of a Christian RPG ('swhat I heard...) but it was long out
of print, and I had no hope of getting a copy. So life went on, I went
to college and played AD&D (and many other RPG's) ... time passed ...
Then one day I decided to try and find out what this game is... and if I
could find a copy. I had been playing Redemption (CCG) and thought it
would be cool to round out my game collection with a Christian RPG. So
I posted on the rec.game.boards.marketplace newsgroup and got a
response. It was called DragonRaid, and yes, he had a copy he would
sell me. I duly got it in the mail, and started reading it. First off,
I would like to say that the LightRaider test is NOT the best written
work I have seen. My husband and I were often amused as we read it by
the copious (sp) notes to the Adventure Leader that said things like:
If all else fails, just tell the players if they don't do what they're
supposed to do, there is no game, and they can just go home. And that
bit at the beginning where there is the appearance of free will (in the
first room?) but no matter what the players do, they HAVE to go through
the door with OLMN. Ah well, It is a good idea anyway, and I may have
interested one of my friends in using it in her husband's youth group.Guess that about wraps it up. Anyone wishing to correspond with me
directly can write to:In Christ,
Amber Mahoney
