Playing Non-Humans

Both J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis used non-human beings to represent
humanity in some light or another. Tolkiens Elves represented unfallen man
(though individuals could turn to evil) standing above nature, and similarly
orcs represented men that had fallen as far as a man can. Of-course the
majority of fantasy fare does not follow this model.Unfortunately, there ARE real world problems with the whole non-human races
thing:First off, real witchcraft makes reference to various "otherworldly beings"
calling them "lords and ladies", sidhe (pronounced shee), "ascended masters"
and all sorts of similar creatures that have a very elf/fey ring to them.
Theyre all supposed to be either alien beings, ancient kings/queens
(sometimes from Atlantis), ancient gods, or other beings. Also, there are real occultic groups called otherkin
(www.otherkin.com/) that believe themselves to BE elves, dwarves,
dragons and the like. They practice many forms of occultic activities. The
dangers of this cannot be underestimated!!!!-Aaron

I agree with you that we should be teaching that
man was created in the image of God. But, at least by
my perspective, I think that elves/humans/dwarves are
All men, just different races. One person is born a
little shorter, another is born with pointy ears, etc.
Over time they split into different populaion. So,
elves, dwarves, and humans are all of the same
species, but different races (in the socialogical
sense).
This can be a parallel to how people on earth
seperate and catergorize others based on physical
differences, etc, and how a disciple of Christ deals
with that.
