The Creator knows his creation!

(Job 39:1-30)

I.  Concentration:  on the contents of this chapter

            1.  The preceding chapter closes with God asking Job what he knows about

                 lions, Job 38:39-41.

            2.  God continues by asking Job what he knows about goats and deer, vv. 1-4.

            3.  God asks Job what he knows about wild donkeys, vv. 5-8.

            4.  God asks Job what he knows about wild oxen, vv. 9-12.

            5.  God asks Job what he knows about ostriches, vv. 13-18.

            6.  God asks Job what he knows about horses, vv. 19-25.

            7.  God asks Job what he knows about hawks and eagles, vv. 26-30.

II.  Meditation:  on the truths seen in this chapter

            1.  The Lord God created all the animals living on the earth, Genesis 1:20-25.

            2.  The Lord God knows, watches over, and provides for all His creatures,

                 Matthew 6:26; 10:29, 31; Job 38:41; Psalm 147:9.

            3.  The Lord God gave man dominion over the animals . . . a privilege which

                 carries with it the responsibility to help preserve wildlife and the environment,

                 Genesis 1:26-30; 2:19-20.

            4.  Although the Lord God created both animals and humans, He made man

                 unique . . . created in God's own image, Genesis 1:26, and God "breathed

                 into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being (soul),"

                 Genesis 2:7.

III.  Revelation and Applications:  as a Christian, I need to understand that . . .

            1.  The Bible clearly teaches that God created the world and that man is a special

                 creation; the theory of the evolution of lower species into high species is not

                 supported by scientific facts; in fact, Scripture states that species reproduce

                 "according to their kind," Genesis 1:21, 24.

            2.  Christian faith, by definition, is based upon the belief that God created the world:

                 "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so

                 that the things which are seen were not made of things which are invisible,"

                 Hebrews 11:3.

            3.  Christian faith is based on the belief that Christ Jesus was the divine agent Who

                 was responsible for the entire creation:  "In the beginning was the Word, and

                 the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning

                 with God.  All things were made through Him and without Him nothing was

                 made that was made," John 1:1-3.

            4.  Salvation comes through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Who is the Creator of the

                 universe:  "In Whom (Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, the

                 forgiveness of sins.  He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all

                 creation.  For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on

                 the earth . . . All things were created through Him and for Him.  And He is before

                 all things, and in Him all things consist," Colossians 1:14-17.

 

 

 

Magnify the lord of glory!

(Colossians 1:15-19)

I.  Concentration:  on who Jesus is . . .

            1.  He is the image of the invisible God, v. 15.

            2.  He is the first born over all creation, v. 15.

            3.  He is the Creator, v. 16.

            4.  He is before all things (in time; in importance), v. 17.

            5.  He is the force holding creation together, v. 17.

            6.  He is the head of the church, v. 18.

            7.  He is the beginning/firstborn of the resurrected ones, v. 18.

            8.  He is supreme in everything, v. 18.

            9.  He is the dwelling place of all the fullness of God, v. 19 (2:9).

          10.  He is the reconciler between God and man, v. 20.

          11.  He is the indweller within the believer, v. 27.

          12.  He is the hope of glory, v. 27.

II.  Meditation:  on Paul's continual prayer for the Colossians (vv. 8-14)

            1.  "Be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual

                 understanding,"  vv. 9-10

            2.  "Walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him," v. 10.

            3.  "Bear fruit in every good work," v. 10.

            4.  "Be strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for

                 all patience, long-suffering, and joy . . . with thanksgiving, vv. 10-13.

III.  Revelation:  Paul prays that these Christians may have . . .

            1.  An understanding MIND.

            2.  Guided FEET along life's pathway.

            3.  Serving and ministering HANDS.

            4.  A patient, long-suffering, joyful, thankful HEART.

IV.  Applications:  as a Christian, I need to . . .

            1.  Be open to God's revelation knowledge for me.

            2.  Walk worthy of my name . . . "CHRISTIAN."

            3.  Bear much fruit through faithful service and unselfish ministry.

            4.  Be filled with the Holy Spirit so that I may exhibit patience, long-suffering,

                 joy, and thanksgiving . . . to MAGNIFY THE LORD OF GLORY!
