Stewardship/Giving/Managing God's Stuff Luke 16:1 – 15
- Are you wasting the resources/possessions God has given you?
- Why are you entrusted to manage God's resources?
i. For God
ii. For His purpose
iii. To bring increase
- One day there will be an accounting of what you have done with the life God entrusted you with
- You will not be able to "Cook The Books" to make you look better than you really have been.
- God Knows
- God keeps His own Book and He knows who is entered there
- You will not be able to use people for your own gain with the Boss
- God knows the truth
- God knows your schemes
- You CANNOT fake faithfulness with God
- You will serve only one master
- God
- Self/money
- Do you love God or do you love money
- Knowing that the money/resources you have come from Him
- Why would we love the created over the Creator?
i. Is money your false God?
- What are you holding back from God?
- 50%
- 20%
- God asks for a portion to be given back in faith with joy
i. And you hold back a percentage of a portion?
- Malachi 3:6-12 "For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed. From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. But you say, 'How shall we return?' Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, 'How have we robbed you?' In your tithes and contributions. You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you. Bring the full tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. I will rebuked the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil, and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear, says the Lord of hosts. Then all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land of delight, says the Lord of hosts."
- We rob from God when we love money more than we love him and when we are bad managers of the resources God has given us and try to lie to God of "Fake it until we make it."
- There is great benefit to our faithful service and giving to God
- We make God Smile
- We become part of His plan and work
- 2 Corinthians 9:6-11 "The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. As it is written, "He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever." He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness." ESV
- Be honest with God
- Be Generous with God
- Love God more than anything or anyone else
- Give generously
Average cost of a Super Bowl ticket this year is $4,755. Add flights, hotels, food, souvenirs and other expenses we see that a HERD of money will be spent by Super Bowl Attendees.
NGR Stadium hold 72.220 people X $4,755 + $343,406,100 – PLUS the other stuff.
And that is just the ones who will be in actual attendance.
More than 100 Million are expected to watch the game and spend money on jerseys, food, snacks, refreshments, new bigger screen TV's, etc.
Overall it is estimated that this years Super Bowl spending will top last years 15.5 BILLION
Not questioning where you spend your money.
Point here is that a BUNCH of people love football more than they love their money.
How much MORE do you love God?
How much more are you managing and saving your money for God?
Are you being a shrewd manager of God resources or are you trying to cheat Him?
