Everyone deserves a fair chance
Humans build walls and people get hurt all the time. We decide the quality of someone's character based on faulty standards and we need to stop. Everyone deserves the right to be judged on their own merits.
The problem with prejudice is that it answers questions without information. Stereotyping is the laziest form of thought because it reduces people to formulas and it robs individuals of their humanity.
We assign groups labels before they even appear and we force everything to fit our presuppositions based on what others have told us or from very isolated experiences. Nothing will sway our opinions because we're too lazy to think creatively.
We've had the traditional racial and geographical stereotypes for years that we've fought hard to extinguish. Yet, sadly, others continue to multiply.
In today's world, white skin makes one a racist. Being a man equals a pervert and a sexist. Old age qualifies as being narrow-minded and Christianity equals stupidity.
Labeling a man as a sexist before he even shows up is just as wrong as presupposing a Jew is a thief. All of it must stop.
Thankfully, God teaches us that we're all created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26) and that we all have value. In terms of our humanity, we're all equal in the eyes of the Lord (Galatians 3:26-29) and we'll never be judged impartially (Acts 10:34-35).
God calls us to unity (Ephesians 2:11-13) in the spirit and that can only happen if we learn to love as God teaches (1 John 4). God judges on our actions (Ezekiel 18) and we must do the same.
Give everyone a fair hearing on their own merits and God will be pleased. Equality should exist for all or it can't be true for anyone.
