Dear home school friends,Today I stopped by Faithful Bookshop, an Orlando area home school store. Doreen and Jeff Morgan, the owners and my very dear friends, shared with me that they had major damage from Hurricane Frances. Unfortunatel, they had to throw away a lot of their waterlogged inventory and cordone off more than half of their store until it is repaired. They are insured, but this is still a huge financial and logistical nightmare for this store little store which offers such a big service to the home school community. They also lost their entire e-mail address list in a computer crash. Let's help Doreen and Jeff through their crunch time, OK? There are four things you can do, and help yourself at the same time:First of all, please PRAY for them. They have had an incredibly tough and exhausting year of transition, including being away from home and church family most weekends while they travel to conventions. Do you realize what our beloved home school vendors have to go through to provide us with such great teaching materials for our families? They are my heroes.Second, if you would like to be on their rebuilt e-mail list, please send them a note at [email protected]. You don't need to live in Orlando -- they sell worldwide! They carry a wide variety of materials, but specialize in Christian classical. They also have a used book department! As long as you're sending a note, how about a word of encouragement for them, too?Third, Doreen has announced a Prices That Will Blow You Away Sale.Starting Monday, there will be 50%-70% discounts on slightly damaged books and teaching aids. Most of the store is now off-limits to customers pending repairs, but the front section will be filled with all sorts of bargain goodies for you, and Doreen and her staff will bring out the other stuff on request. I bought a big bag of things that, despite their "damaged" status, looked perfectly fine to me! They will be open from 10-4 this next week, but call ahead if the weather from Hurricane Ivan is bad. Their local phone number is (407)522-7333. The store is located at 5041 Edgewater Drive in Orlando, just north of Lee Road in a shopping plaza. Finally, please pass this information along to other home school e-mail lists as appropriate! Here is their other contact information:Toll free phone number: 1-866-474-8030Web site: www.FaithfulBookshop.comAddress: 5041 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, FL 32810Fax: 407-522-0055Thank you in advance for being a support to Jeff and Doreen during this trying time.BlessingsVirginia KnowlesThe Hope Chest Home School NewsSubscribe for free by e-mail: [email protected]-- To unsubscribe, send ANY message to: [email protected]
