Haven’t explored this Steve, so I don’t know. Two places possibly worth exploration:

The NSText Delegate methods:

• – textShouldBeginEditing:
• – textDidBeginEditing:
• – textDidChange:
• – textShouldEndEditing:
• – textDidEndEditing:

and the NSControlTextEditingDelegate with the two method:

• – control:textShouldBeginEditing:
• – control:textShouldEndEditing:
