by J. Randal Matheny © 2015A month has passed, the year no longer new,
Upon the grass has dried the morning dew.
To fill the unwritten page, what plans we made
To change those wrongs that on our hearts have weighed!What progress did we make in thirty days?
Or was desire for growth a passing phase?
Did we but mouth a latent, watery wish
With weak intent, a silent, slippery fish?Let lesser aims not trouble or try the soul,
But if we truly want to reach some goal,
For such, 'tis little the time and thought we've spent;
Perhaps then more's required: the need to repent.— ‹‹«»›› —
