by J. Randal Matheny © 2015Earth is crawling with people, moving
place to place, working, loving,
hating, crying, confused and dying,
seldom happy, often sighing,
Terra covered with frustration,
growing sense of deep privation —
something missing, sorely lacking,
souls in danger, surface cracking,
running, running, flight from reason,
blue and green in spinning season.Nations warring, leaders threatening,
heads go rolling, stomachs wrenching,
marching armies bolster tyrants,
media moguls sit in silence,
teachers laud the state's oppression,
coyly denying History's lesson,
judges gut their constitution,
law gives way to graft's pollution,
naught but show are free elections,
borders fall, and all protections. So was Rome, and thus are moderns,
man's upheavals under the heavens;
In this world, the church is foreign —
Saints have peace, for God is sovereign.— ‹‹«»›› —
