FPEA convention -- I'll be there!

Posted by: homenews <homenews@...>

Dear Hope Chest friends,

I'm leaving in two hours to drive down to the Gaylord Palms for the annual Florida Parent-Educators Association home school convention, which is the third largest in the country.  Like thousands of other folks, I'm really looking forward to roaming the huge exhibit hall, listening to great speakers, seeing old friends and meeting new ones.  (Maybe some of you!)  This is the first year I am staying down there, too, so it's a real treat!  I was just pondering what to have my family make for dinner tonight (frozen chimichangas or pizza or both?) when a neighbor came over with three huge packages of yummy food left over from her high school graduation party.  Isn't God good to take care of us unexpectedly this way?  (I've already had to fix a VCR and a few other things today, so every bit helps!)

Convention tip: To make things a little more organized, I've set up a convention notebook with the seminar schedules and map slipped into the clear covers, my curriculum wish lists and unit study lesson plan overview, plenty of paper for notes, a log sheet for my purchases, a pouch for brochures and catalogs, and even a picture of my family!  I've also got my hip pack stuffed with my money, cell phone, pencils, and mini first aid kit.  Now I just need to grab my big tote bag for all the great books I'm planning to buy!

Faithful Bookshop: If you are going to this convention, please stop by Faithful Bookshop's booth (#229, right in the middle of the exhibit hall) and say hello to owner (and my good friend) Doreen Morgan and her crew.  At this booth, you can also see my books The Real Life Home School Mom, Common Sense Excellence: Faith-Filled Home Education for Preschool to 5th Grade, and my lesson planner / resource log called The Learner's Journal.

Blessings,
Virginia Knowles
