We may work for Christ from morn till night; we may spend much time in Bible study; we may be most earnest and faithful and “acceptable” in our preaching and in our individual dealing, but none of these things can be truly effective unless we are much in prayer. We shall only be full of good works; and not “bearing fruit in every good work” (Col. 1:10). To be little with God in prayer is to be little for God in service. Much secret prayer means much public power. Yet is it not a fact that whilst our organizing is well nigh perfect, our agonizing in prayer is well nigh lost?

I have been reading a lot of fiction this summer.  I've had some trouble with my back, which has provided ample opportunity to rest and read ... and fiction has been my escape. 
 
I am so blessed to live in a town with a library that loves Christian Fiction!  I am able to find many books there and earlier this summer I discovered the Heart Quest Books -- this is not a series, although there are series within the Heart Quest Books.  Heart Quest is a division of Tyndale House that publishes Christian Romance books.
 
I just finished reading Roses Will Bloom Again by Lori Copeland.  It was a delightful story of 2 lost loves reunited under not so great circumstances.  Of a homecoming and healing in the midst of grief.  Of breaking the bondage imposed by the enemy with the power of Christ's love.
 
I have 2 more Copeland books ready to read -- They are not Heart Quest Books -- they are from Moving Fiction and are part of a series called Morning Shade Mysteries. I love mysteries ... books, tv and movies!  I have no doubt these are not the kind of mysteries that keep you on the edge of your seat, but more the Jessica Fletcher / Murder She Wrote type... which is just what I am in the mood for right now!  I am about to start the first book in this series A Case of Bad Taste.  Morning Shade is a town in Arkansas... at least in these books.. and it appears I will meet quite a cast of characters as I read including frustrated writer Maude Diamond.  I'll let you know how it is in a day or two when I am done.
