For neighborhood outreach this year, my family will be putting both candy and a fun and evangelistic DVD, playable on DVD players, in the bags of
Trick-or-Treaters coming to our door. The disc has turned out well, and
I wanted to share it with you-all too.
The Internet has provided some wonderful resources to make this a very
enjoyable and effective video - mostly from www.godtube.com, containing the
following featurettes which begin as simple entertainment, call kids to give
their hearts to God, and end with a call to reach their neighborhood for
Christ:
TimHawkinsScaryBedtimePrayer
TheShowMustGoOn
AlmostFlewClaymationbyJeffCaylor
KidsInterpretingtheBble
HillsongKidsJesusIsmySuperHero
TheWatchmaker
EvolutionofDance
Areyousmarterthanakid
DramaticLemur
KidsEvangecube
TechnoChicken
TheCraftsmanPictureBook
WakeUpWorshipKids
JeanWellesWorshipGuitarClassforKids
BellyButtonSong
archaeologyforkids
TheBox
StarWarsAlternative
All of the content is freely downloadable.
You can burn as many copies as you wish to give out. The media needed is a
cheap DVD-R (maybe DVD+R will work too). Most DVD players made in the last 7 years can play homemade DVD's.
If you have burned/recorded a DVD before, you will recognize the .iso filename below, which is the image of the DVD. Many DVD software programs will read this .iso file and make the DVD with little fuss. For about 36 cents per copy, and a little time, I think this is a great investment in children.
The files you need are at:
welovegod.org/outreach/halloween/
The DVD envelope I'm printing, uses the RTF file also in the directory above.
Please don't download these files, unless you are serious about distributing
them to your neighborhood. The bandwidth drain on my connection will be too
high. The files will be removed soon after Oct 31.
By the way, I really call this the "Hallowed Evening" project, because we have the opportunity to make it a Holy Night!
