Fwd: Today's Bible Minute for: May 25, 2009

Dear friends,

Reading the Bible and prayer are two of the things that are of vital importance in the Christian faith?  Why?  The Bible is the Word of God, the very words spoken by God and recorded by men and women.  Prayer is our other source of communication with God, our heartfelt connection with God.  Why is reading the Bible and prayer so important?

Let's take a look at scripture and see if the scriptures themselves answer the questions:

Matthew 22:36-40 (King James Version)

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Matthew 6:33-34 (King James Version)

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (King James Version)

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Romans 10:17 (King James Version)

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Now read the message and see if these scriptures tie in with the ones provided in today's Bible Minute - I think they do.  What do you say?

Yours in Christ,
Brian
