Dear Hope Chest friends,This is what I found posted on the Home School Swap board this morning about the Garvey family:~~~(Written by DollyM, whose husband is on the Board at the church that the Garveys attend)This pertains to the homeschool family of 12 who suffered the tragic loss of their infant son in a 12/16 car accident while on their way to a Florida vacation from their home in Maryland. Most family members have been treated and released from the hospital, but 2-4 are still hospitalized, some expected to be released soon (12/18). These details change quickly but that the current "gist" of things.
The family is longing to come home to Maryland. Funeral arrangements for the baby who perished are on hold until we can get everybody back home. Most family members are travel-ready but possibly 1-3 of the brothers will require VERY EXPENSIVE MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION back home, if they are to get home in a timely manner. There is strong desire on the part of the family NOT to leave recovering children in FL. Obviously.
To assist with the high financial burden of bringing EVERYbody back home at the same time, the Garvey family's home church has set up THE GARVEY RELIEF FUND. Folks who wish to make a tax deductable financial contribution are encouraged to do so. Here are the details:
1. Columbia Presbyterian Church in Columbia Maryland has set up a special fund. Contributions to the fund ARE tax deductible. The funds will be distributed at the discretion of the Deacon Board of the church, for the purposes of supporting the travel and medical needs of the Garvey family members in the aftermath of their car accident of Dec 16.
2. Make your check payable to: Columbia Presbyterian Church.
3. Put "GARVEY RELIEF FUND" in the "memo line" of your check.
4. Mail checks to the church at
