I just found out at that Gary Thomas, whom I interviewed in the last Hope Chest, has been a guest of Focus on the Family several times. In May, he spoke on "The Sacred Union of Marriage" for two days.  I've been listening part of this while working on the computer this morning, and it is a wonderful message! We are using the Sacred Marriage study guide in our couples small group Bible study once a month, and I am downloading the one for The Glorious Pursuit, which I am currently reading.

I mentioned in the last Hope Chest issue that I would be sending the web link for free audio downloads of the Joy Inexpressible retreat that I attended (along with 700 other ladies from all around Florida and the Bahamas) this past weekend. Jenny Detwiler from North Carolina was our main speaker, with sessions on Anchoring Our Joy in the Lord, Forfeting Joy (through worry, fear, anger or bitterness) and Igniting Joy with Thankfulness. Pastor Danny Jones also kicked off the weekend with a session called Joy Inexpressible. I also wanted to let you know about the Glorify regional worship conference that will be held from August 9-11 at Metro Life Church in Casselberry, Florida (near Orlando). This conference seeks to equip people -- pastors, worship leaders, musicians, technical teams and "just regular folks" -- to serve in local churches through worship.   The cost is $70 per person.  The conference features Bob Kauflin, Steve and Vikki Cook, and Todd Twining who are all internationally known as worship leaders, song writers, and music producers. The topics of the over 25 seminars are diverse; a small sampling includes "Leading Worship in a Small Group", "Congregational Worship as Pastoral Care", "Worshiping God as a Mom", "Improving Your Vocal Technique", and "Prayer that Glorifies God."
