{GEAR} Dean Basses

Anyone here playing Dean basses? What's the take on them as far as
quality, tone etc overal? I was in a new music store in North GA yesterday
and as usually the lefty selection was very small. In basses they only had
a Fender J and a Dean 4 string (dont know the model etc). It was in tune
but needed a serious set up (lots of buzz). I didn't plug it in but it
played well.

And whats up with that Earnie Ball Music Man S.U.B.? What a cool/weird
finish on it but the pick guard feels really weird (almost like rubber).
