Good news at the Knowles house! (And yes, the Hope Chest will arrive soon...)

Dear Hope Chest readers,I mentioned a little while back that we had been having horrible computer
problems. We had planned on buying a new computer, but I was nursing the
old one along as much as possible. I didn't want to jump into a
purchase of several hundred dollars just now. I'm of the opinion that
if you put off a purchase long enough, you might not have to make it! I
sure was right this time. I've been poking around on the main hard drive
to see if there was anything else I could delete. I thought I had gotten
everything I could, but today I hit the motherlode. I found and deleted
yet another TEMP directory that had over 900 mb (!) of old unnecessary
files in it. Can you believe it? That took up half of that hard drive!
Now the computer is working JUST FINE! Phew! I am so thankful to God!It strikes me that just like the clutter of old computer files can bring
productivity to a screeching halt, other kinds of clutter -- such as a
messy house, or an overpacked schedule, or emotional "baggage" -- can do
the same thing. This motivates me to get things in order again! What a
burden is lifted when we dejunk our lives, inside and out! When my husband was out of town for ten days last month, I made a
concentrated effort to reorganize and declutter our home. I wanted it to
look better when get got back than when he left. (Usually it is pretty
messy when he gets home from a trip!) I did pretty well with this
project, though it's been creeping back again! Anyway, at one point, I
did get a little panicky about finishing it all in time, so my friend
Carrie offered to come over and help. I took her on a tour of the house
to point out my trouble spots. For example, I showed her the mess of
CD-ROMs in our computer room. I had them on a rack, but our little ones
would find a way to climb up and scatter them. Other members of the
family weren't putting them back in their cases. It took me at least
15-20 minutes a day to get these cleaned up, matched, etc. Often the
cases would disappear or get broken. Such frustration! Carrie had an
instant solution for me. She told me to get rid of the plastic jewel
cases and put all of the CD-ROMs in special slip-in binders. I went out
to Office Max the very next day, and they happened to have zippered CD
cases on sale buy-one-get-one-free! Each one holds 32 discs. Now I have
the younger children's discs in one, and the rest in the other. It sure
has helped a whole bunch! Now why didn't I think of that before?Well, I guess I've rambled a bit here. Maybe this will help somebody
just like me.You're probably also wondering when the November Hope Chest will arrive.
I'm planning to send it out within the next few days. It's had to take
a "back burner" lately as I've sorted everything else out!Blessings,
Virginia Knowles
