Good Reading from Dee and Cheryl....

Well, this Memorial Day weekend was certainly a weekend of opposite
activities at our home! Saturday was spent out and about browsing a small
town square (a town about 40 minutes away) and finding some great fabric to
make a duvet cover for my ds's room. That night was a family movie night and
then I curled up in bed and started Dee Henderson's Danger in the Shadows. I
have read The Negotiator and The Guardian in the O'Malley series. I read --
either on this list or somewhere else! -- that one of the characters in The
Negotiator was introduced in Danger in the Shadows. After checking the
computer at the library, I learned that one of our local branches had it so I
requested it. It came in Friday! Do NOT start this book unless you have the
time to sit and read it straight through! I had to MAKE myself stop Saturday
evening and I really did not want to. Soooo I finished it early Sunday
morning! I woke up wanting to know what was going to happen! The main character, Sarah, has been stalked for most of her life. She lives
under a veil of assumed names and government protection and in the midst of
all this she falls in love. Something she has no intention of doing! There is
certainly romance here, but there is lots and lots of mystery and intrigue
also. And there are some wonderfully complex and interesting characters in
Sarah and her brother Dave. A must read for Dee fans! After all that reading and the typical Sunday stuff, we spent the afternoon
outside. God granted us with a lower than norm temp and humidity day (a rare
treat here in the deep South!) so I sat in the glider with a Cheryl Wolverton
book all set to resume my reading, but alas it was not to be! We ended up
playing a most interesting game of baseball -- there are only 4 of us here!
It was soooo much fun!Yesterday the activities resumed with grilling out, crochet, badminton and
volleyball! Would I ever get to read again? YES! Last night I piled my tired
and sore body on the couch and read Cheryl's Healing Hearts. This one came
out last Nov. and has been sitting in my "Gotta read" stack. It was great! I
have enjoyed all of Cheryl's books -- especially those set in Hill Creek, TX.
I love how she introduces characters -- like Tessa -- in 1 book, gives you a
taste for them! and then draws them out in another book. This is what happens
in Healing Hearts -- we learn all about Tessa and Drake two wonderful
characters who are from totally opposite ends of the spectrum! Tessa is a
seemingly carefree soul who loves animals, but there are some hidden secrets
deep inside. Drake is a tough, rough rancher -- all macho -- who has had a
brush with death and a life changing experience. Together they learn to trust
others and more importantly to really trust God. Another great read!I am on to Cheryl's latest Hill Creek adventure -- A Husband to Hold -- (I
hope I got that right -- the book is in the other room!!!). I am sure it will
be great too! Thanks Dee and Cheryl for using your gifts in such wonderful ways!
